Beautify Marengo Asks Residents to Help Set Its Second Year

Beautify Marengo meets Wednesday, September 9, at 6 p.m. at the Marengo-Union Library District, 19714 E. Grant Highway, and the group is asking residents to fill out a survey at beautifymarengo.com/survey before then. The meeting is open to anyone, and the group says what comes back on the survey becomes the agenda.

The survey walks through the projects already running and asks what should happen to each one: whether the next big cleanup lands in the fall alongside Settlers' Days or in the spring around Earth Day, whether the downtown hanging baskets should expand onto the older brackets still mounted on poles along Route 23, whether more planters go downtown now that the group expects to carry more of that cost than it did when the high school built the first round, and when the one tree a year at the schools should go in. There is a place to write in ideas nobody has raised yet, and a place to pick the three that should carry the next year, so the meeting opens with a list already in order.

Every question is optional, and the group says you do not have to have volunteered before to answer one. Each project this year gets two co-leads and a crew, so the survey also asks, project by project, whether you would take one on, join the crew, or sit that one out.
