Illinois publishes what every video gaming terminal in the state takes in, town by town. Marengo's machines took $3.5 million from players last year and the city received $176,555 of it. The city code sets no limit on how many establishments can have machines, and the one number that looks like a limit is raised whenever the council approves another license.

Marengo Township's board chose a health plan that costs about 7 percent more than this year's instead of a 17 percent renewal. The supervisor also said a corrected copy of the township's budget is now on file with the county, and the tentative levy asks for 4.99 percent more than last year.

The District 154 board approved overnight trips for FFA and varsity wrestling and a $1,000 donation, and tabled its personnel report to closed session. The board heard that failing grades at the high school fell last year to the lowest level the principal knows of, and got updates on the solar project and the social media lawsuits.
