Marengo City Council closed-session minutes, 2023–2026

Thirty-one sets of closed-session minutes the council voted to release on August 10, 2026, covering meetings from May 2023 through May 2026.

Where these came from

The Marengo City Council voted on August 10, 2026 to release these minutes under Resolution 26-8-A, after reviewing thirty-seven closed sessions. Thirty-one were released and six were held back, all of them litigation matters. Marengo Weekly asked the city for the released sets and the clerk’s office produced them on August 14, 2026. Released minutes are not posted to the city’s website automatically; they become records available on request.

What we removed

The city produced these without redactions. We have removed personal names in a few situations: employees discussed as the subject of a personnel matter, private individuals involved in litigation with the city, individual landowners in property negotiations, and one street address in a law-enforcement reference. We have not removed job titles, and we have not removed the names of elected officials or of staff, attorneys and contractors acting in their official roles. Nothing else has been altered. Because roles remain, some people will still be identifiable, and that is deliberate. These records are available unredacted to anyone who requests them from the city, as we did. Our aim is not to conceal what the council discussed but to avoid attaching a private person’s name to it permanently in a search engine.
