This week we break down last year's video gambling numbers for Marengo and recap the township board's Oct. 19 meeting. The calendar is full, too, with city council Monday and library events all week.
THIS WEEK'S STORIES
TOP STORY
GOVERNMENT · OCTOBER 20
Illinois publishes what every video gaming terminal in the state takes in, town by town. Marengo's machines took $3.5 million from players last year and the city received $176,555 of it. The city code sets no limit on how many establishments can have machines, and the one number that looks like a limit is raised whenever the council approves another license.
MEETING RECAPS
MEETING RECAPS · OCTOBER 21
Marengo Township's board chose a health plan that costs about 7 percent more than this year's instead of a 17 percent renewal. The supervisor also said a corrected copy of the township's budget is now on file with the county, and the tentative levy asks for 4.99 percent more than last year.
