City of Marengo Seeks New Director of Public Works

The City of Marengo is accepting applications for a new Director of Public Works, a full-time, salaried position overseeing one of the city's largest departments. The posting lays out a wide-ranging role: the director is responsible for the administration of all divisions within the Public Works Department, including water and sanitary utility systems, streets, and the mechanic division. The role also includes implementing the city's Capital Improvement Program, procurement, and budget preparation. The position supervises between 9 and 12 employees.

The starting salary is listed at $110,000, depending on qualifications. The city noted it may also consider a qualified retired Director of Public Works seeking a part-time arrangement.

Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, public administration, or a related field, along with five years of municipal supervisory experience. The posting also calls for knowledge of municipal public works operations, applicable state and federal regulations, and experience with sanitary sewer collection, water treatment, and distribution.

Applicants are asked to submit an employment application, cover letter, and resume to Marengo City Hall at 132 East Prairie Street, or by email to resume@cityofmarengo.com. The full job description and application are available at cityofmarengo.com.

The position will remain open until filled.
