THIS WEEK'S STORIES
TOP STORY
MEETING RECAPS · OCTOBER 17
The District 154 board approved overnight trips for FFA and varsity wrestling and a $1,000 donation, and tabled its personnel report to closed session. The board heard that failing grades at the high school fell last year to the lowest level the principal knows of, and got updates on the solar project and the social media lawsuits.
GOVERNMENT
GOVERNMENT · OCTOBER 14
The new regional transit agency is choosing 5 to 15 riders to advise its board, and applications close Oct. 31. The law sets aside no seat for any county, though McHenry County shoppers pay part of the agency's sales tax and Marengo has no Metra stop.
MEETING RECAPS
MEETING RECAPS · OCTOBER 13
The council approved a liquor license for Amy's Indian Bistro on South State Street 7-1, after questions about video gaming. It also renewed the city's property and liability insurance at about $34,800 more than last year, most of it for a higher liability limit, and passed the code changes on trailers, dumpsters and building rules.
